3rd Schoental Symposium

On behalf of the DFG research group FOR 1650 Dislocation-based Plasticity, you are invited to the Schöntal Symposium held at the monastery Bad Schöntal in Germany.

The focus of the symposium is on Dislocation-based Plasticity and related topics. The symposium will feature thematic lectures but will mainly be a forum for intense discussions, knowledge exchange and networking within the research community concerned with dislocations, their modeling, experimental observations, and theoretical assessment. Furthermore, all participants are invited to bring a poster for the poster session on Tuesday evening. The conference flyer is available here.

Every day of the symposium will focus on one of the following topics:

  • Current state and challenges in developing a physical based continuum theory of dislocations (organized by Paul Steinmann)
  • Dislocation modeling - Discrete-continuum transition (organized by Jaafar El-Awady)
  • Dislocation based plasticity – Experiment vs. Simulation (organized by Gerhard Dehm)
  • Dislocations and interfaces (organized by Helena Van Swygenhoven)

The final program of the Symposium including some travel information can be downloaded here.
